Josh Freeman Picks Vikings

Former Tampa Bay Buccaneer Josh Freeman has made the move to the Minnesota Vikings. The 25-year-old agreed to a $3 million deal for the rest of the season. Freeman’s agent, Erik Burkhardt, announced the good news via Twitter with a one-word tweet stating “Vikings.”

Tiger Woods Clinches President’ s Cup

Dealing with a bad back and battling with the forecast this weekend, Tiger Woods pushed through and took the lead over the international side. The game was close and Woods was put in a tough position. ”I wasn’t feeling my best coming down the stretch,” Woods said after making the two-putt, clinching point that gave him a 1-up lead.

Government Shutdown Enters Second Week

The government shutdown entered its second week with no end in sight and ominous signs that the United States was closer to the first default in the nation’s history as Speaker John Boehner ruled out any measure to boost borrowing authority without concessions from President Barack Obama. The uncompromising talk rattled financial markets early Monday with the Dow dropping more than 100 points in early trading.

Police Investigate Possible Hate Crime

Police in Washington state are investigating a stabbing that occurred Saturday as a possible hate crime. According to The News Tribune in Tacoma, Spc. Tevin A. Geike, 20, of Summerville, South Carolina was fatally stabbed while walking with two other soldiers. Police spokesman Chris Lawler said Geike was stabbed after a Black man allegedly shouted a racial slur from a passing vehicle.

Target of U.S. Raid in Somalia Planned Kenya Attacks

A United States official says the target of a raid by Navy SEALs in Somalia over the weekend was a Kenyan man named Abdulkadir Mohamed Abdulkadir. A Kenyan government intelligence document names him as the coordinator of other planned attacks. The man, also known as Ikrima, was a known operator for the Somali militant group al-Shabab.

Halle Berry Gives Birth

The Oscar nominated actress welcomed a baby boy into the world on Saturday. This is the second child for the 47-year-old, but the first for her husband Olivier Martinez.

Diddy Makes $250,000 Donation

Entertainment mogul Sean Combs attended the Network for Teaching Entrepreneurship’s Youth Entrepreneurship Challenge where he presented a $250,000 check to the organization which works to empower kids through entrepreneurship education. The evening also featured a coaching session with Mr. Combs and the three finalists: Juny Nguyen, Jesus Fernandez, Dagim Girma and Toheeb Okenla.

The NAACP and TV One Partner Up

The oldest and largest civil rights organization has partnered with the television network in a new multi-media five-year agreement. Under the contract, the station will become the home for the NCAAP Image Awards, beginning with the 45th annual event set to air February 2014. “Today’s announcement is a game changer for TV One and our loyal viewers across the country. As we prepare to celebrate the 10th anniversary of TV One’s launch, I can think of no greater opportunity to thank this audience,” Alfred Liggins, CEO/ President of Radio One, said in a press release.

Blair Underwood Discusses Ironside

On Monday’s episode of the nationally syndicated daytime talk show Katie, Blair Underwood opens up about being able to talk to his mother in a way he has never been able to. With his mom suffering from multiple sclerosis and being confined to a wheelchair, his new role in Ironside has led to conversations that she would often times avoid.

Kanye West Ordered to Avoid Photographer

The rapper has been ordered to steer clear of photographer Daniel Ramos, the paparrazo he allegedly attacked at LAX. West was told to stay 10 yards away from Ramos, but he does not have to attend anger management classes, according to TMZ. Ramos has also been ordered to avoid West, which is probably for the better.
