Michael Dunn Compares Himself To Rape Victims & Juror #4 Speaks Out About The Verdict

Michael Dunn, who was convicted on three counts of attempted murder, compared himself to rape victims during jailhouse conversations. Dunn said that he was in a similar situation with women who are blamed for being raped because of the way they dress.

According to an ABC News reports, prosecutors released audio from jailhouse calls from Dunn where he talked about the shooting of Jordan Davis in Jacksonville, Fl:

“I was the one that was being preyed upon and I fought back. It’s not quite the same but it made me think of like the old TV shows and movies where like how the police used to think when a chick got raped going, ‘Oh, it’s her fault because of the way she dressed,’” Dunn told his fiancée Rhonda Rouer in one call. ”I’m like, ‘So it’s my fault (laughing) because I asked them to turn their music down. I got attacked and I fought back because I didn’t want to be a victim and now I’m in trouble. I refused to be a victim and now I’m incarcerated.”

Last Saturday, yet another clusterfuck of a Florida jury dropped the ball on the high profile case, when they couldn’t come to a consensus on whether or not Dunn committed first degree murder. Dunn was found guilty on four of the five charges, but a mistrial was declared on the first-degree-murder charge in the death of Davis.

One of the jurors who convicted Michael Dunn of attempted murder believes he should have been convicted of first-degree murder.

“I believed he was guilty,” Valerie said in an interview with ABC’s “Nightline” early Wednesday. Also known as juror No. 4, she asked that her full name not be given in order to protect her identity. Valerie said the jury’s first vote was 10-2 in favor of a murder conviction. Over nearly 30 hours of deliberations, the vote became 9-3. She also said all of the jurors felt Dunn crossed a line when he continued to fire at the SUV as it fled the scene. In their minds, any threat Dunn may have felt before had passed.

“We all believed that there was another way out, another option,” she said. ”Roll your window up, ignore the taunting, put your car in reverse … move a parking spot over. That’s my feeling.”

But apparently some didn’t feel the line was crossed enough to charge Dunn with first degree murder.
