Micheal B. Jordan might be in the middle of shooting Marvel’s Black Panther, but that doesn’t mean the 30-year old heartthrob isn’t thinking about his next project.

Once he’s finished wreaking havoc on T’Challa’s life in Wakanda as the vicious supervillain, Erik Killmonger, Jordan will be headed to HBO to bring the iconic 1951 novel, Fahrenheit 451 to life.

Set in the 24th century, Ray Bradbury’s dystopian novel is divided into three parts: “The Hearth and the Salamander,” “The Sieve and the Sand,” and “Burning Bright.” The narrative follows Guy Montag, a young man who takes pleasure in his profession as a fireman. In this society, books are illegal, and firefighters are tasked with burning any books that are found as well as the homes of their owners. However, as the plot progresses, Montag begins to question not only his profession but his life’s purpose. Michael B. Jordan will be bringing Guy Montag to life, and we also know that Michael Shannon will star as Beatty, Montag’s mentor.

Though the film has been adapted several times, most notably in 1966, this HBO film with a young Black actor at the helm will be unprecedented. Since he first appeared on the scene in The Wire, we knew Michael B. Jordan had the makings of a mega star. With Fruitvale Station, Creed, Black Panther and now Fahrenheit 451 on his resume, the Fantastic Four alum is proving that there is nothing he can’t do.

If nothing else, high school students will be relieved to watch HBO’s Fahrenheit 451 instead of having to read the novel for class. But you didn’t hear that from us!

There is no word yet on when the film will drop but we’re going to guess late 2018 early 2019.
